Description:This position is of a Research Scientist in a neuroscience laboratory, in which rodent preparations and in vitro cellular model systems are used to model pathogenic mechanisms and treatment targets in mental illness.
Duties:The work focuses on cellular systems, using molecular genetic manipulations including cellular reprogramming to probe neural cellular and circuit function. Research responsibilities will include varying combinations of the following: primary cell culture, viral and free nucleic acid-based cellular reprogramming, chemical differentiation of multipotent cells, transduction of cell lines with viral constructs, neurohistology, calcium imaging, western blotting, and data analysis.
Qualifications:PhD level education preferred or equivalent in work experience in a neuroscience-related field.

At least 2 years of experience in at least 3 of the above-listed techniques. Extensive experience with cell culture including advanced microscopy techniques is a must.

Applicant will be expected to also have excellent organizational skills, keep detailed records and aid others in the laboratory with data management. He/she should be able to work on a flexible schedule, including some weekends and evenings.
