|Description:||The incumbent will contribute to the various quality assurance activities for a couple of large longitudinal epidemiological studies assessing the affect of parental exposure to trauma on their child’s mental health, being conducted the NYC metropolitan area. |
|Duties:||Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with investigators, experience/training in children’s mental health. Extensive field recruitment and interview experience required. |
Previous experience with coordination of clinical/research studies. At least 50% evening and weekend work required, bilingual Spanish/English required.
The incumbent will be involved in the quality control system for the interviews. Additionally, the incumbent will also involve in the biological (DNA) aspect of one of the studies. S/he will make sure that there is a seamless transition between data collection and data analysis by working closely with relevant staff and investigators, as well as serve as a liaison with the laboratory to carry out the DNA analysis.
Finally, the incumbent will oversee the day-to-day mailings (e.g. thank you cards, birthday cards, holiday cards, etc.) to all of the studies’ participants as well as participate in the preparation of grants and manuscripts. Due to the scheduling nature of the research field staff, the incumbent will work during both regular office hours and night/weekend hours.
Data collected through in-person interviews are audio-taped and systematically reviewed; either fully or randomly selected sections for quality assurance purposes. Missing/incorrect data found through quality assurance will trigger a follow-up call to obtain the correct information from the studies’ participants.
|Qualifications:||BS/BA with at least 2 years relevant experience preferred. Concentration in Epidemiology, Biology, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, or Public Health preferred.
This position involves regular and substantial contact with children. The successful candidate will be screened through the New York State Central Child Abuse Register prior to assuming any duties that will involve contact with children. There is a $25.00 fee for this service which must be paid by the successful candidate.
