Description:Position Announcement Director, NYC Project Hope Salary: Grade 28 Salary Range: $82,854 - $100,797 Location Pay: $3,026 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH) is seeking to fill one (1) full-time salaried position to serve as Director for Project Hope. Project Hope is a program that provides free crisis counseling services to persons, families, and groups most affected by Hurricane Sandy. Project Hope is funded by the Federal Emergency and Management Agency (FEMA) and is administered by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) in conjunction with NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the RFMH. This position will be located in the Bureau of Mental Health at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The incumbent will report to the Assistant Commissioner for Mental Health. This is a grant-funded position. The initial grant period will run through December 29, 2012, with an anticipated total duration of one (1) year. Duties:Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Developing and implementing all components and activities of the New York City Crisis Counseling Program including supervising staff • Overseeing analysis and reporting of NYC CCP data to assist with program oversight and monitoring • Providing leadership and oversight for funded activities of provider agencies contracted through the CCP to ensure they meet program goals and objectives and reporting requirement • Overseeing provision of technical assistance related to the CCP to provider agencies contracted through the CCP • Collaborate with DOHMH Media and Marketing and State Media on development of media materials • Collaborate with other City, State and Federal agencies to promote the Crisis Counseling Program goals, objectives and activities as indicated • Maintain awareness of current and planned initiatives, and activities related to crisis counseling in the context of emergency response to a natural disaster • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements/ Preferred Skills: • A PhD in Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, or other relevant doctoral degree from an accredited college or university, and two (2) or more years relevant work experience; or • A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, or other relevant graduate degree from an accredited college or university, and four (4) or more years relevant work experience; or • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, or other relevant degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) or more years relevant work experience. • Experience responding to a disaster of similar scale, understanding of policy, understanding of local mental health and local government structure and network • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and populations, as well as honor contributions and strengths of all cultures • Ability to manage people and resolve conflict • Able to meet tight deadlines and work in an unpredictable environment • Experience with creation and management of budget and grant processes • Knowledge of basic computer skills required • Excellent written, oral and organizational skills
