| Description: | The Division of Substance Abuse, Department of Psychiatry, New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI), is seeking a psychiatrist for a research position at the level of Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychiatry.
The Division of Substance Abuse at Columbia University/NYPSI is dedicated to understanding behavioral and neuropharmacological mechanisms underlying drug-related effects in humans.
This position requires a Board certified psychiatrist with both significant experience in neuroimaging research as well as excellent clinical skills and familiarity with patient populations with substance use disorders.

| Duties: | The position is an academic position with primarily research related duties. Duties include direct patient contact for the purpose of research, at all collaborating institutions (NYSPI, New York Presbyterian Hospital). The applicant will see patients with a diagnosis of various substance related disorders (predominantly cocaine dependence and alcohol abuse), as well as healthy control participants who are being evaluated for inclusion in research protocols. The applicant’s duties include the recruitment, medical and psychiatric screening of potential participants for inclusion in research studies with physical examinations (including blood draws), psychiatric assessments, and review of laboratory tests. The applicant is also responsible for carrying out any and all procedures of the research studies approved by the protocols, including but not limited to, admission of subjects to and supervision on the NYSPI inpatient research unit, administration of pharmacological challenges under laboratory conditions, and supervision of neuroimaging modalities (PET imaging, fMRI, MR Spectroscopy) as well as the administration of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
Furthermore, the applicant will be responsible for the design, implementation, data analysis as well as manuscript preparation for publication of specific studies. The applicant will supervise students and research assistants working for the Division of Substance abuse were applicable. The applicant will collaborate in writing grant applications and future protocols for studies in the Division of Substance Abuse.

| Qualifications: | A medical license, specialty training in psychiatry, and at least three years experience with PET imaging are required. Experience in imaging of patients with substance use disorders and comorbidity is preferred, as well as experience in administering pharmacological challenges combined with imaging paradigms.
Applicant must have M.D. & medical license for NYS, completed residency in psychiatry and Board certification in psychiatry
