| Description: | The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene has an opening for a full-time Research Assistant at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH). The NYC DOHMH is one of the world’s oldest and largest public health agencies. It has a single mission: to protect and promote the health of all New Yorkers. The Research Assistant will work under the direction and guidance of the NYC Bureau of STD Control (BSTDC) Director of Special Projects. As a Research assistant, you will be responsible for collecting data on substance abuse among individuals who participating in the Screening, Brief intervention, Referral and Treatment project delivered in STD clinics operated by BSTDC.

| Duties: | Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- GPRA tracking and follow-up for participants with and without valid contact information
- Conduct home/job and other field visits to locate participants for follow-up interviews
- Use of electronic medical records and internet-based search programs to locate participants
- Maintain GPRA/follow-up data, including data entry and data management
- Performing the associated administrative functions.

| Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associate’s degree and a minimum of one year of experience in the provision of social services including substance abuse and/or mental health services.
Preferred skills include; strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to client confidentiality and other issues common to human services settings. Ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds, work with a variety of people to secure the trust of clients, clients’ family members, clients’ employers, social service agency personnel, criminal justice system personnel, and others.
